“I’ve been a writer as long as I’ve known what writing is,” says Chris Queen. Blessed with a wild imagination and a desire to create, Chris writes prose, fiction, songs, and reviews, and he shares whatever is on his mind on his website, ChrisQueen.net.
Born in Marietta, GA, sometime in the 1970s, Chris has called Covington his home since he was five years old. A graduate of the University Of Georgia, Chris currently writes regularly for PJLifestyle and has also written for NewsReal Blog and Celebrations Magazine. He is Director of Communications at Eastridge Community Church, which his family helped found in 1989.
Chris is a fan of anything involving his beloved Georgia Bulldogs and is a Disney aficionado, having visited Walt Disney World over 25 times; he is also planning to take a trip to Disneyland hopefully sometime in next couple of years. He enjoys spending time with family and friends and especially spoiling his nieces Mackenzie, Kayla, and Hadley.
Here’s a fun Q&A about Chris:
Favorite Musical Artists/Bands: The Beatles (should be required listening), Bill Mallonee/Vigilantes Of Love (his songs are so personal, yet so easily identifiable), Melanie Penn (a brilliant singer-songwriter from New York), Explosions In The Sky (beautiful, expansive instrumental rock), Hillsong United (the best worship out there, hands down), Over The Rhine (simply amazing), Adele (her voice is second to none). I’ll be honest, I don’t listen to a lot of “Christian” music; I tend to prefer to hear from believers who make their music in the wider arena.
Favorite Movies: Apollo 13, On The Waterfront, High And Low (a 1962 Akira Kurosawa mystery)
Favorite Books/Authors: Flannery O’Connor, Lee Smith, Shusaku Endo, C. S. Lewis
Favorite TV Shows: Friday Night Lights, Homefront, Seinfeld, 24, Lost
What inspires you? I love to watch people worship, to see their response to the greatness of God. I’m also inspired by seeing my nieces grow and learn.
What did you want to be when you grew up (as a kid)? A game show host or a weatherman
What’s something new that you’ve learned about the Bible lately that has surprised you? I’m always surprised how God reveals new things to me in passages of scripture that I’ve read countless times.
If you could vacation anywhere…where would you go? Walt Disney World is part of my family’s traditions, so I guess my ideal vacation would be a money’s-no-object, deluxe trip to Disney World. Other than that, I’ve always wanted to go Japan or the British Isles.
