Here’s my confession for today: I have a terrible record with just about any kind of plant. Flowers, vegetables, you name it – other than a cactus, I’ve pretty much killed any green thing in my possession.
So needless to say, with my black thumb, I don’t know much about soil. But you don’t have to be a horticulturist to know that seeds will not become mature plants in bad soil.
Jesus gave his disciples sort of a lesson in spiritual horticulture in Luke 8. Ever the storyteller, He uses a clever parable to demonstrate the importance of “good soil” to spiritual growth.
