We have plenty of clichés in our language, don’t we? When someone is going through troubles, especially when those problems are self-inflicted, we can spout out some good ones.
“Well, it’s always darkest just before the dawn.”
“You know, you have to hit rock bottom to before you come back up.”
The funny thing about clichés is that there’s a grain of truth to them. Many times we find that we do have to hit our lowest point to see any positive change take place in our lives. That’s where we find the Israelites in Lamentations. God’s chosen people turned their back on Him for generations, and He enacted harsh discipline.
