This Weeks Guest Post At The New Normal: Finished

This time of year, we focus on Jesus’ birth. We read Luke 2 countless times (“That’s what Christmas is all about, Charlie Brown.”), and we dwell on that part of His story. We don’t really think much about the crucifixion. So it’s interesting that there is where our Reading Plan takes us in December.As I’ve read through this passage, which covers the crucifixion and death of Jesus, a few points of interest stick out: Pilate making the sign and doubling down on calling Jesus a King, the soldiers fulfilling prophecy by casting lots for Jesus’ clothes, Jesus making arrangements for his mother’s care.

But more than anything else, one simple sentence from Jesus’ mouth captures the most important part of the story…
