For 2011, WordPress has issued a challenge. And, for some reason I’ve taken it. The challenge is to write a blog post every day. It doesn’t matter how long or short, or what the post is about. So I like the freedom in it. (I’m going to try not to “cheat” and use my News Real postings as the daily post, but I may have to somedays…) I think more than anything else, my greatest fear/worry is forgetting to do it some days.
What do I hope to get out of this experiment? Mainly, I hope it will grow me as a writer. I know I don’t expect to write some profound, creative missive fraught with wit and wisdom every day. Some days, the post will be pretty random and awfully mundane. Some posts may be terrible, but I know that, like the diamonds that hide in the rough, I’m bound to find some of my best writing among these daily posts.
Is it going to be easy? Absolutely not. Will I get stuck some days? Without a doubt. But will it stretch me as a writer? Most definitely.
It’s a revolutionary idea…I think that’s why I like it.
(By the way, loyal readers, if you have any inspiration or encouragement from me in the midst of this challenge, feel free to send it my way…)
