“Free who,” you might be asking?
It’s not surprising, since the human rights abuses in China are swept under the rug by our media and our current administration under the pretense of wanting better relations with China. Gao Zhisheng is a human rights lawyer who happens to be a believer in Jesus Christ. After writing a letter to the US Congress in 2007, Gao went missing as of February 4, 2009. He has been unaccounted for a total of 246 days, as of the writing of this post. All the Chinese government will say is that he is “under probation for a legal violation.” However, he remains missing, but presumed alive.
Christians and those who are concerned about human rights in China should be alarmed. There is something you can do. Please visit www.freegao.com to sign the petition, joining nearly 113,000 others (including me); you can also see a video reenactment of Gao’s testimony and read other information on the site. Please consider signing the petition; a man’s life may depend on it.
